How to read the comparison

Every row uses the same amount and the same total holding, so the only differences are the scheme's own rate, tenure and payout. Your total holding across all Sanchaypatra decides two things: which rate slab you fall into (the current slab limit is ৳7.5 lakh) and the source tax rate (5% up to ৳5 lakh, 10% above).

The effective after-tax return is the net profit per year as a share of the amount you invest. It is the fairest single number for comparing schemes of different lengths, because it already includes the tax.

  • Rate: the yearly rate for your slab if you hold the certificate to maturity.
  • Net per payout: what reaches you each time profit is paid, after source tax. Schemes that pay at maturity show one payment at the end.
  • Total net profit: all profit over the full tenure, after tax.
  • At maturity: total net profit plus your principal back.

What the best return does not tell you

The highest return is not automatically the right choice. Paribar and Pensioner Sanchaypatra pay every month, which suits anyone who wants a regular income, while the 5-year certificate and the Post Office fixed deposit pay everything at the end. Profit that arrives monthly or quarterly can be spent or reinvested; profit held to maturity cannot.

Eligibility also matters. Paribar is limited to women, people with disabilities and people aged 65 or over, and Pensioner is limited to retired public servants and family pensioners. A scheme you cannot buy is not an option, however good its rate looks. Each row below notes who can buy it, and the scheme guides explain the details.

Finally, check the purchase ceilings. If your amount is above a scheme's ceiling, or is not a multiple of its smallest face value, the row is shown as unavailable for that amount.

Rates shown are the ones in force for purchases from 1 Jul 2025, officially kept unchanged for Jul–Dec 2026. They were last checked on 24 Oct 2026.
