Sanchaypatra scheme guides
One guide for each of the five government savings schemes: who can buy it, what it pays, how much you can invest and what you need to do.
Choosing between the schemes
The five schemes differ in three practical ways: who is allowed to buy them, how often profit is paid, and how much can be invested. Start with eligibility, since Paribar and Pensioner are restricted, then decide whether you need regular income or prefer to collect everything at maturity.
Profit from every scheme is subject to source tax, which depends on your total holding. The tax and rules page explains the rates, the e-TIN requirement above ৳10 lakh, and the combined ceiling of ৳50 lakh (single) or ৳1 crore (joint) for the 5-year, 3-month and Paribar schemes together.
- Want a monthly income? Look at Paribar or Pensioner if you are eligible.
- Want income every three months? The 3-month profit-based certificate pays quarterly.
- Happy to wait for a lump sum? The 5-year certificate and the Post Office fixed deposit pay everything at maturity.
- Not sure? Use the compare page to see all five for your amount.
