Overview

Paribar Sanchaypatra, introduced in 2009, pays profit every month for 5 years and returns the principal at maturity. It is meant for people who rely on a regular monthly income.

It can only be bought in a single name, and only by the groups listed below.

Who can buy it

  • Bangladeshi women aged 18 or over.
  • Disabled persons, men and women.
  • Bangladeshi citizens aged 65 or over, men and women.
  • It cannot be bought in joint names.

Profit rates and slabs

The rates below are for certificates bought from 1 Jul 2025, the rates the government has kept in force for Jul–Dec 2026. Your rate is fixed on the day you buy and does not change during the 5-year term.

Which of the two rates you get depends on your total Sanchaypatra holding across all schemes, including this purchase: ৳7.5 lakh or less is the first slab, above ৳7.5 lakh the second. The whole certificate earns the rate of its slab.

How and when profit is paid

Profit is paid every month. Each payment is one twelfth of the yearly profit, less source tax, and the principal is returned at maturity.

If you encash early, profit you have already received above the early rate is taken back from the principal.

Denominations and ceilings

  • Certificates come in face values starting from ৳10,000, so purchases are multiples of ৳10,000.
  • One person can hold up to ৳45 lakh.
  • Holdings of this scheme, the 5-year scheme and the 3-month scheme count together toward a combined ceiling of ৳50 lakh.

Encashing before maturity

You can encash before maturity, but the rate drops to the early rate for the number of full years you have completed, and nothing is earned if you encash in the first year.

Because profit has been paid to you at the full rate along the way, any profit above what the early rate allows is deducted from your principal. The table shows the early rate for each completed year.

Tax on the profit

Tax is taken from every monthly payment, so each payment you receive is already net of tax. The rate depends on your total holding across all schemes.

Source tax is deducted from the profit before you receive it: 5% if your total Sanchaypatra holding across all schemes is ৳5 lakh or less, and 10% if it is above. The rate depends on your total holding, not on this certificate alone.

From the FY2026-27 budget the tax withheld counts as advance tax you can adjust in your annual return. Reports differ on whether the small-holder rate changes, so the calculator uses the NBR's published 5% and 10% rule. See the tax and rules page for details.

Worked examples

These examples use the rates in force today and assume the certificate is your only Sanchaypatra holding, so the slab and the tax rate follow the amount invested. They show how the slab and the tax rate change the result.

They are estimates for illustration. Your own result depends on your total holding and purchase date, and you can try your numbers in the calculator.

Documents you need

  • Passport-size photographs of the buyer
  • National ID card (NID) of the buyer
  • Passport-size photographs of the nominee, if you appoint one, and the nominee's details
  • Bank account details, so profit can be credited to your account
  • An e-TIN and proof of income tax return submission (PSR) if you are buying more than ৳10 lakh

Where to buy and encash

You can buy and encash this certificate at district savings offices and National Savings Bureau offices, Bangladesh Bank offices, scheduled commercial banks and post offices. Ask the office for its current forms and process, since procedures can differ between branches.

Nominee and other benefits

  • You can appoint a nominee, and change or cancel the nomination later.
  • If the buyer dies, the nominee can encash the certificate immediately or keep receiving the monthly profit until maturity.

Is it right for you?

Paribar is a strong choice when you qualify and want income every month, for example to cover household costs. Check the ceiling of ৳45 lakh, which is lower than the 5-year scheme's.

Remember that eligibility is checked by the issuing office. If you are buying on behalf of someone else, the buyer must be the person who qualifies.
